Investec launches new electronic equity trading desk

Investec Bank has announced two senior hires to support the launch of its new electronic equity trading desk as part of the next phase in the expansion of its global trading offering.
A recent hire Dominic Lowres will head the desk, which provides clients access to a new, global electronic execution channel.
According to the firm, this development enables clients to execute low-touch equity trades across multiple global trading locations, utilising Investec鈥檚 external exchange memberships and direct venue connections, as well as its own internal liquidity pools.

Lowres joined Investec in July as head of electronic trading and execution strategy, with more than 30 years of experience in trading.
He currently leads a team with more than 20 years of experience in building low-latency trading platforms at global financial organisations.
Prior to that, he spent nearly 12 years at Panmure Liberum where he most recently served as head of execution strategy.

Alongside Lowres, Matthew West was hired as electronic sales trader, bringing more than a decade of experience in sales trading to the role.
Before that, he served under the same title at Deutsche Numis and Canaccord Genuity.
